Private Midlife Transitions Coaching
My Coaching Approach
Life moves fast these days. When our health or life feels uncertain, it’s natural to want quick answers. But often, what helps most isn’t more advice. We need time to understand, space to think, and someone who listens without pushing us for solutions.
Medicine is important. Going to appointments, getting checkups, and following medical advice all help protect your health. Coaching doesn’t replace these things. But medical care can’t decide how you want to live, what matters most to you, or how you want to handle changes in your life.
That’s where we can start working together.
I like to call my approach accompaniment. I’m not here to tell you what to do or give you a one-size-fits-all plan. Instead, I work with you as you figure out where you are, what’s changing, and what you want next. I offer knowledge, structure, thoughtful questions, and honest feedback, but you decide the direction.
Our sessions start with careful listening. Before we talk about goals or next steps, I want to understand your whole life as it is now. We might look at your health, work, relationships, caregiving, identity, resources, culture, dreams, and sense of purpose. All these parts are connected and shape what matters and what’s possible for you.
I’ll listen closely to what you share and notice what might be hard to say. I’ll help you see the difference between what others expect and what truly matters to you. Together, we’ll look for patterns, pressures, strengths, and new possibilities. We’ll also talk about what you want to change, protect, prepare for, or let go of.
I don’t think change is just about motivation or willpower. Human behavior is complicated. Even when we know what we want, it can be hard to take action. Things like relationships, responsibilities, time, health, resources, and past experiences all play a part. Our work takes these realities into account.
My experience as a scientist, communicator, educator, researcher, nutrition specialist, and coach shapes how I work with you. I look at information carefully, separate facts from opinions, and turn complex ideas into practical steps you can use. I’m not just interested in what sounds ideal. I want us to find what’s thoughtful, responsible, and realistic for you.
Every coaching relationship is unique.
I don’t use a set formula or assume the same approach works for everyone. We’ll shape the process around your situation and needs. We might start by clarifying where you are, choosing what to focus on first, exploring options, and creating next steps that fit your real life. We’ll learn as we go and adjust when things change.
I want our sessions to feel relaxed and unhurried. Each private session is scheduled for 1 hour and 45 minutes, and I set aside up to two hours just for you. This way, we don’t have to rush and can take time to pause, reflect, and finish our conversation thoughtfully. You’ll have my full attention the whole time.
My goal isn’t for you to rely on coaching. I want you to understand the process well enough to use it on your own. Over time, I hope you’ll feel more confident looking at situations clearly, knowing what matters, making informed choices, and deciding what your next step should be.
You don’t need to have all the answers or a perfect plan. You just need to be willing to start an honest conversation about where you are, what’s changing, and what might be possible now.
